Currently in development

Helping children build clear, confident English from the beginning.

Koo English is developing an English speaking and pronunciation platform for children, beginning with families and education partners in Malaysia.

Founded in Australia. Building for Malaysia. Designed with an international vision.

Our mission

Make high-quality English speaking education more accessible.

We are building for children who may have limited opportunities to practise English at home. Our aim is to combine good teaching design with appropriate technology so that children can practise speaking, hear clear models and build confidence at a manageable pace.

Our learning outcome Clear, functional and internationally intelligible English.

What we are building

A guided English speaking journey for young learners.

Koo English is currently in product and curriculum development.

01

Speaking practice

Guided activities that help children practise English aloud and build confidence through regular repetition.

02

Clear pronunciation models

Learning flows designed around clear examples, careful listening and age-appropriate speaking support.

03

Progress for adults

Tools that help parents, educators and partners understand practice, progress and learning needs.

Careers

Help us build a better way for children to learn English.

We are looking for capable, thoughtful people who believe technology should support good teaching rather than replace it.

Engagement: Substantial part-time fixed-term appointment or consultancy, approximately 12 months and subject to agreed milestones.

Compensation: Please state your expected monthly salary, part-time salary, retainer or consultancy fee.

Key responsibilities

  • Design the speaking, listening, vocabulary and pronunciation progression for young multilingual learners.

  • Develop guided exchanges, role-play scenarios, question-answer routines and confidence-building speaking tasks.
  • Build child-friendly sound-awareness and pronunciation practice while coordinating with speech or assessment specialists.
  • Ensure consistent British English spelling, vocabulary and model-language choices while supporting internationally intelligible communication.

  • Prepare structured lesson records, vocabulary tables, sentence patterns, activity metadata, audio instructions and versioned content fields.
  • Define observable speaking outcomes, practice routes, retry guidance, weak-area support and parent-friendly evidence statements.
  • Maintain curriculum standards, review checklists, content versioning, educational claim controls and age-appropriate language safeguards.
  • Work with product, technical, UX, speech, localisation, QA and privacy specialists.

  • Excellent command of British English spelling, vocabulary and model usage.
  • Ability to convert curriculum ideas into precise, structured specifications for an app or online learning platform.
  • Excellent English writing, editing, simplification and parent-facing explanation skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with software developers, designers, QA testers, speech reviewers and localisation specialists.

Preferred experience

  • Experience supervising curriculum writers, content producers, reviewers, voice talent or localisation contributors.
  • Familiarity with child usability, learning analytics, structured assessment evidence or pilot-based curriculum improvement.

Working style

  • Hands-on and willing to produce, not only advise.
  • Documentation-first, organised and comfortable with versioned content workflows.
  • Able to balance academic quality with practical product, budget and implementation constraints.
  • Careful with educational claims; avoids guaranteed fluency, guaranteed CEFR outcomes or accent-elimination promises.
  • Respectful of Malaysian multilingual learners and committed to inclusive, developmentally appropriate learning design.
